This video guide explains how to baseline students in Connecting Steps V5 on the Individual Assessment Screen or Level Summary screens. Students need to be baselined on the framework they are working on, in the subjects you are using. The system will warn you if there is no baseline.
Improved baselining features
Please note that the following improvements are not reflected in the video yet:
We have made it even easier to baseline on the Individual Assessment screen and have added a new green “Add Baseline” button on that page. Just click that to set your baseline!
To make space for the “Add Baseline” button, we have removed the button that shows the percentage complete which gives you access to the donut charts. Once a baseline is added to the profile, the “Add Baseline” button will disappear and you will see the percentage complete.
To further improve the baselining process you can now quickly set the assessment date to the baseline date. A baseline is more than just a completed level, a realistic baseline includes all the skills a student has already achieved. They will already be part way through their current level. This helps to ensure that the starting point you are comparing current attainment to is more realistic, giving a truer reflection of progress.
To use the baseline date tick “Use Baseline Date: xxxx” to the left of the “Add Achievement” button, pick an achievement from the list and click on the assessment points you want to add the achievement to.
Students will not be included in graphs or reports without a baseline
